E very year, millions of Brit’s book a holiday abroad, and if there is one thing we Brit’s are good at is holidays. We plan all year for our perfect get away and leave no stone unturned when it comes to looking for the best bargains, packages and holiday deals. When we live in a country that is notorious for rain and dismal weather, no wonder so many Brit’s flock to locations such as France, Spain and Italy for their breaks - everyone just want’s a bit of sunshine! Another thing that we all want is the perfect beach body. But there it is one thing getting this so-called ‘beach body’ and another thing is maintaining it. So here is a quick guide to maintaining your perfect beach body.
One thing you shouldn't forget during or after your holiday is physical exercise. Even just swimming, a few laps in your hotels swimming pool or going for a swim in the sea, it all helps. We tend to get lazy during our break, we often eat more too, and of course, eat all you like, enjoy your break, you deserve it! But don’t forget to tend to your body after you treat it. Everyone has to go back to work after their holiday and your stomach and exercise routine is definitely no different. So go ahead and eat that ice cream, just don't neglect the beach body you tried so desperately to get in the first place! The first few days after a holiday are the worst, we feel so lazy, so tired, so lethargic. Maybe try waking up a little earlier one morning and taking a quick jog, or perhaps invest in a gym membership. Think of your next holiday and your beach body for that, and use that as motivation to keep going. After all, there are plenty more holidays in the future, it is always good to think of your body in advance. And not in a “No, I can’t eat that last slice of cake, I need to prepare my beach body for my trip to Crete in 2035” kind of way. But more in consideration for your health and fitness.
After-holiday blues often kicks in a few days after a really great holiday. We miss the sun, the sea, the food and the freedom to relax and just do what we like. We often have a bad habit of binge eating after our break. We miss our holiday so much as we tend to eat more than usual. This is a habit we need to break. There is no need to feel down after a holiday, there are plenty more times for a holiday in the future, but you only have one body, and you should look after it. Try and cut out sugary and fatty foods for a while and try to maintain a healthy diet. Swap that packet of crisps for an apple, consider your bodies affects in the long run, don't let after-holiday blues get the best of you.
Once you’ve got your diet and exercise in shape, there is just one thing left to do, and that is taking care of our skin, after all, your skin will be showing far more on holiday than it would at home. Your skin may need a little more attention than normal after it has been hidden all winter under thick layers of clothing. This means moisturise more, use face washes and exfoliate every day. Use a gentle exfoliating scrub once a week, and be careful not to dry skin out with super hot water. Moisturise well right after every shower or bath, and treat yourself to a spa pedicure for smooth, pretty feet. With the right pampering your skin should be looking it’s best in only a few weeks and you'll be all ready for your holiday.
Summer is the time to feel confident, so treat yourself, but also treat your body, after all, you've only got one.
